  3. Life of Machiavelli • Born in Florence, Italy • May 3rd, 1869 • Famous during the Renaissance • Italian Philosopher at the time • Lived rich, wealthy lifestyle • Was involved in multiple conflicts • Had been tortured and exiled from Florence • Died on June 21rst,1527

Famous Literature • During exile, Niccolo wrote “The Prince” to regain political favor • Also wrote “The Discourses of Livy” in 1513 • Wrote “The Art of War” in 1521 • After meeting with political leaders • Also created other stories and novels • “The Life of Castruccio” • “The Florentine Histories”

  5. Beliefs • Believed you couldn’t be a “stereotypical king” • Should be deceptive, feared and cruel • He wanted to expose the true nature of rulers • Would point out the flaws and bad things of rulers and advisors • Niccolo was no friend to religion • Especially Christianity
