  1. Web Documentary Ami-Jane Marsh

  2. City of Culture 2017 • My interactive documentary will follow the three main dates of the City of Culture Bid: • April 2013 • June 2013 • November 2013 • These dates will be shown in a timeline format. • The documentary will be available on tablet form, as shown later in the presentation.

  3. First idea/sketch

  4. Second idea The first page and the second page are linear, which means they have no other specified timeline. The last three pages can go in order the user wants, either via “next” or “back” buttons or a sliding motion with their finger, both of which I was investigating into. Possible survey??

  5. Wireframes

  6. First page “next” Picture of the Hull 2017 logo How did they do it?

  7. Second page Event 1 Event 2 Event 3 Timeline of three events filling the whole space

  8. Third page back next Video of hull bid, click on video for it to pop out Text, a little about what happened on this specific date that was important

  9. Fourth page A bit about the competing cities, click on the picture for information to pop up. Leicester Swansea Bay Dundee

  10. Final page We’ve done it poster Link to Hull Daily Mail for up to date information

  11. Detailed information • The prototype is meant to be simple, for people who are not skilled at using tablets, has an educational use. • Wireframes have not got “back” and “next” buttons on some of the pages because I was considering having a slide effect where the user could slide their finger across the screen, but would need further research into that.

  12. Prototypes

  13. This is my first page. This is the page that will open when the documentary starts. This is the 2017 Hull logo, that will be shown on the first page. This is the “next” button that takes you to the timeline.

  14. This is the timeline page. The instructions tell people Who are not good with tablets how to use it to navigate. These are the timeline links to the different pages. You just press on them with your finger to load the page up.

  15. This is the first of the timeline pages. This page relies on video and text. This page includes a link to a YouTube video of the Hull bid, accessed by the button at the bottom that you click on and the video pops up.

  16. The images show the competing cities, and the buttons under the links take the user to more information. This is the second of the timeline pages. Here there should be a “back” button to access the timeline, so the user can choose which of the events they want to look at. This is because the “next” and the “back” button will be replaced by a sliding action by the user’s finger on the actual finished product.

  17. This is the final page and it is very simple. This page includes a gallery of pictures from the bid, along with a link to the Hull Daily Mail website, where the user can find up to date information regarding the city of culture.

  18. Evaluation

  19. What I thought of the task • I found the task extremely difficult, because normally I prefer making the final product, instead of just planning it. • I found that this task tried to improve our planning skills, as this is one of my main problems because usually I have a play around with different software trying it out for my final product, rather than going through a complicated planning process.
