  2. Pneumatic Tools • Pneumatic Tools are run by compressed air • They greatly speed up your work • They can be dangerous to you and the equipment you are working on

  3. Air Lines • Pneumatic Tools require compressed air delivered through flexible air lines • Coil up air lines after each use to avoid tripping, or damage to the air line. • Inspect regularly and do not ignore small leaks in any air line Cont.

  4. Air Lines • When an air line breaks, the compressed air will cause the hose to whip around violently! • Do not try to catch a broken air line that is whipping around • Disconnect air line from wall fitting IMMEDIATELY !

  5. Air Quality • Compressed air holds water • Compressors should be drained daily. • All pneumatic tools should be oiled regularly • You may use a few drops of air tool oil at the air inlet.

  9. Impact Wrenches • Impact Wrenches can be powered by air, electricity, or with a hammer

  10. Impact Wrenches • Pneumatic (air) powered impacts have the most power and torque. • Electric impacts are much quieter • Impact drivers (hit them with a hammer) are useful for stubborn Phillips head screws

  12. Impact Wrenches • Impact wrenches can easily twist off a stuck nut or bolt • Impact wrenches should not be used to tighten fasteners. • They will easily over-tighten nuts and bolts

  13. Air Ratchets • Air ratchets can quickly spin on or off a nut or bolt. • If the bolt is stuck, using an air ratchet can “bust your knuckles” • Use a breaker bar to break loose stuck fasteners • Consider a cordless ratchet, it is just as fast, MUCH quieter and more convenient (no air lines)

  15. Pneumatic Hammers & Chisels • Air chisels are VERY noisy! • They are also dangerousto you and the vehicle! • Do not use this tool without special instruction

  16. Blow Guns • These tools use compressed air to dry off parts that have been washed in solvent • They are very noisy • They should NOT be used to clean off yourself, or equipment.
