  2. Syllabus Text: Two options: The textbook: Chemistry: A Molecular Approach, Nivaldo Tro, Pearson-Prentice Hall, ISBN 0-13-100065-9, 2008. Without Mastering Chemistry. I additionally recommend the following booklet: Supplement for Chemistry Fundamentals II, Donovan Dixon, Kendall Hunt, ISBN 978-0-7575-6587-8, 2010.

  3. Syllabus There will be four tests, a final exam, and seven quizzes. All exams are cumulative, but stress will be put in the last (new) chapters covered in class. All will be given during class time. If you are absent for a test, the percentage score from your final test will be substituted for the missed test. The percentage grade from your final test will replace the lowest test score (if it is higher) and a test was not missed. The lowest-grade two quizzes out of seven will be dropped. There will be no make up test! Each test is 50 minutes and will each be worth 100 points. Each quiz will be worth 20 points. It will be given at the end of the class. Test Dates: Thursday, June 02, 2009; June 23; July 7; July 21; FINAL: 8/4/2009. Quiz Dates: Mon, 5/23; Thurs, 5/26; Thurs, 6/09; Thurs, 6/16; Thurs, 6/30; Thurs, 7/14; Thurs, 7/28.

  4. Syllabus Overall Course Grade will be primarily computed based on the percentage points from 4 tests and the final (5x100), plus five quizzes (5x20) = 600 total points. Grading Summary: 4 Exams @ 100 points each = 400 points 1- Final exam = 100 points 5 best quizzes @ 20 points each = 100 points Total = 600 points Letter Grade: [90-100 % = A; 80-89% = B; 70-79% = C; 60-69% = D; < 60% = F] NC does not apply to this course. http://chemistry.cos.ucf.edu/ Click on Faculty and, then, on my name, and, finally, on CHM 2046.

  5. Syllabus A student ID will be required for each exam. Calculators will be needed for the exams and the final. Exam questions will be taken from material covered in lecture, assigned reading, and suggested problems. Exams, including the final exam, will be computer graded. It is the responsibility of the student to have a clean, flat, pink NCS Test form (Scantron) with UCF logo, and a number 2 pencil for each exam. Students without the test form will not be allowed to take the exam. The instructor reserves the right to modify the schedule, the testing procedure, and the grading basis if, in the professional judgment of instructor, such modification is in the best interest of fulfilling the course objectives and assuring the academic integrity of the course and the institution.
