HIV Management Case Study: Treatment Strategies and Outcomes for 35-Year-Old Patient

This case study discusses the treatment management of a 35-year-old man diagnosed with HIV in 2001 through sexual acquisition. The patient has no major or minor opportunistic infections and has undergone genetic testing revealing T215D mutation, but otherwise no significant resistance. Initial treatment with TDF/FTC/EFV/RTV/DRV was initiated, resulting in a CD4 count increase to 650 (27%) over six months and sustained HIV viral load under 39 on two occasions. The study evaluates options for maintenance therapy based on these outcomes.
