Understanding Zoroastrianism: Origins, Beliefs, Rituals, and Ethics

Zoroastrianism, rooted in ancient Persia (modern-day Iran and Afghanistan), is centered around the worship of one God, Ahura Mazda, the "Wise Lord." Its creation myth posits a cosmic struggle between good and evil forces, culminating in Ahura Mazda's victory. Founded by Zoroaster, who defined ethical dualism as a core belief, Zoroastrians follow the Avesta, containing hymns called Gathas. Rituals include daily prayers and fire worship, while the Farvahar symbolizes divine wisdom. After death, believers are judged before crossing the Bridge of the Separator, stressing the importance of marriage and family in the faith.
