  9. Work with frontline partners to ensure effective use of science and technology Plan and deliver major security events with state of the art technologies and specialist advice Respond to major crime and security incidents Assess outcomes and lessons learned Not just in the lab …

Setting the challenge • Produce typical ‘real life’ challenges for industry/academia : • Planned raid on suspected paedophile’s home • Missing person case • Document processing for Fraud investigations • Sex offender management Analogous to the Home Office iLids dataset for setting the bar for vision based detection systems

  11. Now & Future • Cloud Computing • Encryption • Facial Recognition • Automatic Detection

  12. Working in partnership • Government cannot tackle the problems alone • Need to be joined up internationally • Need to work closely with industry and academia
