What is a Drug? • Can be defined in many ways. • Substance used to treat an illness or modify chemical process in the body. • A substance which can be addictive that affects the central nervous system. • A chemical or substance that can alter the mind of the body but maybe not for medical purposes totally. • Important Statistics • Teens who drink are 50 times more likely to use cocaine then teens who don’t drink. • U.S. Population Of Criminal Offenses

  5. Marijuana • Other Names: Pot, Reefer, Grass, Weed, Dope, Ganja, and Mary Jane. • Appearance: Very close to dried parsley which contains stems and seeds. Can be smoked in cigarettes and cigars. • Primary drug ingredient: • THC(delta-9-tetrahydocannibal). • Long term use can be addictive.
