IS IT ALL WE NEED? 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:2-4

  5. HOW DEPENDABLE IS THE BIBLE? Notice: Not the product of the will of man Man’s words are not always reliable Words by Holy men are more dependable Writings by Holy men who were moved by the Holy Spirit are dependable

  6. HOW IS THE BIBLE INTERPRETED? 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21

  7. HOW IS THE BIBLE INTERPRETED? Private interpretations may be wrong Scripture did not originate with whims and prejudices We must not interpret the Bible with our whims and prejudices We must compare scripture with scripture

  8. HOW IS THE BIBLE INTERPRETED? 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation--as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 2 Peter 3:15-16

  9. COULD IT BECOME CORRUPTED? 22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because "All flesh is as grass,And all the glory of manas the flower of the grass. The grass withers,And its flower falls away,25But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:22-25

  10. COULD IT BECOME CORRUPTED? The Bible: Is incorruptible seed Lives Abides forever Endures forever Men may pervert it, alter a copy, but it is preserved elsewhere. The gospel has been preached. The Word is confirmed.

  11. IS THE BIBLE A DEAD LETTER? having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,1 Peter 1:23 People may be spiritually dead, reject the Bible But the message is still alive, relevant, alive

  12. HOW SHOULD I RESPOND? PURIFY YOUR SOUL Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 1 Peter 1:22

  13. HOW SHOULD I RESPOND? PURIFY YOUR SOUL BE BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

  14. HOW SHOULD I RESPOND? PURIFY YOUR SOUL BE BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED DESIRE IT 1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 1 Peter 2:1-2

  15. HOW SHOULD I RESPOND? PURIFY YOUR SOUL BE BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED DESIRE IT GROW IN IT but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18

  16. HOW SHOULD I RESPOND? PURIFY YOUR SOUL BE BAPTIZED TO BE SAVED DESIRE IT GROW IN IT DEFEND AGAINST FALSE TEACHING 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:2-3
