  2. Conformity Activity • In groups of 2-4, Complete the 2-sided handout • Pay close attention to the directions!!!

  3. Prepare to read • Get your notebook and label a clean page with the chapters that are on the assignment board • Sit in a desk • When Ms H gives you your book assignment, write down your book number- This is the book you should pick up at the start of every class period • Today we will ask for volunteers and then move the reader to the “Hotseat”. Tomorrow, we can start reading period sitting in the “Hotseat line up”.

  4. Prepare to read • Get your notebook and label a clean page with the chapters that are on the assignment board • Pick up your assigned book at the start of every class period • Sit in a desk • You can volunteer to read by sitting in the “Hotseat line up”.

  5. During reading tasks • AS you follow along with the reader, write down page numbers that you think are related to the topic of conformity, that you like, or that you think are a key detail to the story. This will provide you with an index for the review and discussion questions.

  6. Preparing for Discussion • On your own- • Take the half sheet of paper with the question assigned to you and follow these directions. • Your answers should be written on the half sheet of paper with complete sentence responses. Remember to include page numbers for your answers. • When you finish your half sheet, get the “Written Response” paper from Ms. Hammond

  7. Socratic Seminar • State what you think the theme of the story is so far (Some call it the Moral of the Story) • Share your text evidence with a page number. • As you listen to your classmates, add a list of page numbers and thoughts that you didn’t find on your own.
