  2. So where do we begin? • The ancient Greeks were generally interested in maths and logical thinking. They were known to • have to come up with a large • degree of household maths rules. • These include The sum of the three inside angles of a triangle equals 180 degrees, the same as two right angles;When two straight lines cross, the angles opposite each other are equal and The Pythagorean Theorem.   6. Euclid Born: 355 B.C.E Died: 270 B.C.E More info: Euclid wrote 13 volume set of textbooks on geometry, whether it was his maths or a collection of other mathematicians’ work is still unknown. Home

  7. Aristotle Born: 384 B.C.E Died: 322 B.C.E More info: He taught Alexander the Great and wrote on psychology, ethics, politics and logic. Home

  8. Pythagoras Born: 582 B.C.E Died: 490 B.C.E More info: He travelled in his youth to places such as Egypt and Persia. He invented the Pythagoras theorem (a2 + b2 = c2) Home

  9. Thales Born: 624 B.C.E Died: 546 B.C.E More info: Thales was one of the first Greek mathematicians who studied weather and stars. He figured out how to measure a pyramid by using it’s shadow. Home
