  1. The End of Poverty Philippe Diaz Roxie Carbery

  2. Social Issue • The documentary is a lesson about the beginning of poverty: how the economic and social systems kept parts of the world wealthy and large swaths of it poor. The film details its thesis that the roots of modern poverty are 500 years deep — going back to the explorers and conquistadors who first crowded indigenous economic systems with Western ideas of property ownership.

  3. Cinematography • “Bums, Hobos, Jays”. He shows nothing but poor people, living on the streets. What better way to understand poverty, than someone living in it? There are some Historian that he has interviews with to, discussing the history of poverty and how it all started.

  4. Blatant Biases • I do not think he was bias to rich people, just a little unfair. Not every rich person wants to help someone poor, considering not every poor person is unfortunate because of others but due to their own mistakes. But he was not bias, he showed poverty in different areas at different times.

  5. Thoughts • I did not know how to feel. All this time, I thought ALL the people I’ve seen on the streets, were drug addicts or dropped out of high school. I believe can relate my statement, we’ve all seen them and probably didn’t think it wasn’t their fault that they’re poor. Some people were born into poverty, and some people can not get out just because of the way the system works. “Rich get richer, poor stay poor”. Watching this documentary impacted my growth because it made me think of people other than myself. They say ignorance is bliss, and honestly when we first started watching the documentary, all I kept thinking was how much I did not want to watch it. It made me realize that people are suffering, and now that I know things like this are going on, I’m responsible to helping it.
