  1. LED Lighting We’ve been there since the beginning

  2. OVERVIEW Overview of LED lighting • What is an LED? • Why are people moving away from traditional light sources? • 1. 2013 – Phasing out and stop selling inefficient Diachronic & Halogen lights • 2. 2013 to 2015 – Phasing out and banning any light that has a mercury content such as Sodium, CFL etc. • 3. LED’s are fast becoming a more efficient light source with over 100lm per watt, estimated to get up to 208 lm/w. • 4. Has a more stable white point stability. • 5. Maintenance factor traditional used of 0.80 can be used as high as 0.95 on a very good LED product.

  3. BENEFITS Key Benefits of LED lighting • Reduced lighting energy cost • Savings on CO2 emissions. • Reduced heat input to chilled and frozen storage areas • Reduced maintenance costs – life expectancy 77,000 hours to L70 • Improved light levels and distribution • Improved colour rendering and visibility • No UV or infrared – reduced spoilage • Improved Health benefits • Improved productivity.

  4. BENEFITS Key Issues of LED lighting found on the Market • Poor Quality LED’s proving to fail in short periods of time. (Colour shifting, short life, short circuiting) • No control over temperature on LED’s • Low Quality and low MTBF electrical components • Products not fully tested but stamped with CE, EMC, UL when they clearly don’t meet these standards • Manufacturers falsifying testing (if any) or approvals • No come back on products if from overseas. If they aren’t approved and they cause a problem them your insurance will not pay out • No actual long life data on the products so you are taking their word on the facts.

  5. Resource & Energy Efficiency through LED Lighting Solutions How can we be more resource efficient? Using Intelligent Lighting, Dimming, Movement Sensors, optimising light only when and where it is needed. How can we be more energy efficient and what savings can we expect?

  6. BENEFITS Light Comparison Examples

  7. Light Comparison Human Eye Response LED HPS Which is brighter? Which looks brighter? A cool white LED will be perceived by the human eye as between 3.1 times as bright as an HPS source in mesopic light conditions ~ under typical outdoor lighting conditions Average 5.9 lux Average 12.7 lux

  8. Lighting Comparisons 75watt LED 300watt HPS

  9. BENEFITS Installation Examples
