Installation Planning 2007 SLAC Shutdown SLAC downtime – September, October, November 2007 2007 Installation Planning Installation through BC2 & all cable plant; including cables through the BSY into the BTH West Using SLAC Schedule process for SLAC resource loading 2008 Installation Planning LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo & LCLS 2008 Installation schedule developed to begin detailed planning & integration process – refined by the rebaseline Early Co-Occupancy dates being defined Will follow on 2007 Installation learning curve and use P3 for detailed install schedule (shift work, multiple calendars, etc) Schedule shows Metrology work starting as early as December 2007

  4. 2007 Installation Schedule • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule includes: • Facilities Work • Sector 21 – 30 electrical • BTH West MEP & LCW • Cable Plant • Sector 24 – 30 • I&C and DC cables for BC2 • BSY Work • Cables from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West • BPM S21 to BSY • Mechanical/Vacuum • Sector 24 – 29 removal and installations of BC2 & L3 • Controls • BCS; BC2 Magnet controls; Vacuum System; BC2 Timing System; BC2 MPS; BC2 Networks; BC2 Motion Control System

  5. 2007 Installation Schedule (cont) • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule, as of 10/19/07, contains 550 task lines • Shift work and multiple crews being used for Mech/Vac; shift work in schedule for Cable Plant work during PPS no access periods • Critical Path • As of 10/19/07, CP runs through BC2 • Removal of hardware - Cable plant and component install – cable terminations – cable testing; complete 11/23/07 • Magnet testing & checkouts need to interleave and follow cable completion through end of downtime • Further testing may need ROD periods

  6. 2007 Installation Schedule (cont) • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule 6/22/07 • BSY Work (for example) • Cable Plant from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West • Requires Downtime (obviously) to install cables, therefore needed in 2007 down. Magnet loads not installed until ~March 2008, but need to checkout & commission before next downtime • Cable plant (Controls) install needs to be coordinated with BTH West MEP (LCLS CF)

  15. 2008 Installation Planning 2008 Installation Planning LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo BTH, Undulator Hall & Service Buildings available as early as December 5, 2007; NEH 12/21/07; X-ray tunnel 1/8/08; FEH 3/24/08; SB 2.3 late December TCCo has priority over co-occupied space until B.O. BTH-NEH B.O. 3/21/08; X-ray tunnel – FEH B.O. 6/23/08 NEH elevator not available until ~March 2008, will limit early equipment installation Subcontract SOWs are being prepared Need to ensure this work does not impact the 2007 installation effort, but stay on schedule (cable plant already slipped into February 2008)

Summary 2008 Installation Planning Early occupancy of Conventional Facilities will begin the installation process for technical systems Working to understand definition of early occupancy for each area Does not require Linac/PEPII down for LCLS installations BTH West installation puts some limits on beam operation to other areas like ESA Need to coordinate several subcontracts (~3-4?) to install mechanical systems and cable plant simultaneously Detailed Installation planning in process by coordinators
