  3. Four Basics to Starting Smart#1 START EARLY • Start early • Gives you room for flexibility. • You may have to change or adjust your topic. • Gives you time for hard-to-find resources. • You may need InterLibrary Loan. • Gives you time to read your sources & think.

  10. Advanced Search – Method #1 • Search a Subject-specific database • Such as: • Literature Resource Center for literary criticism • ScienceDirect for biology • Business Source Complete for business • ATLA for ministry • Etc. 60+ to choose from at http://library.pba.edu “Databases” link

Follow your Lead • Here’s an Example • This article is mentioned in your textbook: • The effects of short-term mission experiences on college students' spiritual growth and maturity • Tuttle, Kathryn. Christian Education Journal 4. 2 (Fall 2000): 123-140. • Use “Find a Journal” to retrieve it.

  15. “Find a Journal” “Citation Linker” TO • Go to http://library.pba.edu • Type your article info into Citation Linker

  16. Follow the Trail • Choose the first option, that matches the name of your journal.

  17. Follow the Trail • Choose “Full text - PDF” and you’re home free.

  18. Remember… • …to mine the bibliography of your article for other good sources. A librarian can help.
