  2. The World Cup The World Cup is an international soccer tournament. Each country has a team like the Olympic Games. Players must come from that country in order to be on the team. A player has to try out to be on the team. Professional players are so proud to be on the team that represents their country. The World Cup Tournament takes place every four years. Only men may play in the tournament.
  3. The first ever World Cup In 1930, soccer players and officials in Uruguay planned the first ever World Cup Tournament. Uruguay is in South America. The tournament was in the capital city of Montevideo. The winner was Uruguay and the runner up was Argentina
  4. History of Winners Over the years they have had 19 world cups. They canceled the world cup twice because of World War II. It was canceled in the years 1942 and 1946 Italy won the world cup four times Uruguay won twice Germany won three times Spain won once Brazil won five times France won once England won once Argentina won twice

  6. The United States first sent a team in 1930 the starting year They got to the semi –finals that year. But, they finished in third. In 1950 they did not qualify to go back to the world cup Now that they are back in the world cup I hate to say but they have NEVER won!!!

  9. How many people watched the World Cup Final Game in 2006 in Germany? Hint – it set a record for the most watched event in the world.

  14. In Spanish Speaking Countries……. Some fans are just out of control!!!! They are loyal fans. There are some men in Spain who dress up in bikinis to show their love for their home team! In Spain they had 52 matches in the tournament and 146 goals were scored that year!!!!!
  15. Relation to Spanish People of Spain are crazy about soccer it was a very big event in Spain when Spain won! It was also a great big event when they hosted it!
