  2. Why Expansion Ideas? • It is our intension to fund the same chapters for 3-5 years, so we can track impacts over multiple years. • Need to increase scope to increase impact on the “root” of the community need. • Goal: Create strong expansion plans for years 2 - 5

USDA Example Expand over multiple years • Year 1—pack backpacks of nutritious food for families over weekends • Year2—backpacks plus community gardens • Year 3—continue years 1 & 2; add educational programs • Year 4—continue years 1-3; add “gleaning” • Year 5—continue years 1-4; add farmer’s markets

  4. Guiding Questions • Is your project still meeting a need? • Has your need changed? • Have you discovered that you are not providing the most effective service? • What feels like a natural expansion to the program? • Have the students shown interest in expanding in any direction? • Have community partners shown interest in expanding the project?
