  2. Description of the innovation (1) • Rehabilitation of Canal’s and old olive tree rehabilitation • Jordan – karak • We target 115 spring served around 500 ha for olive tree and 65 km canal’s length

  3. Partners in this activity is ARMPII and community based organization and newly water user association • We impact around 1800 farmer • The canal maintenance cost the project around 300 000 .jd and the rehabilitation program for olive cost160 000 jd

  4. Results and benefits of the innovation (1) • The farmer income increased by increasing olives yield and increase olive oil as shown :-

Impact on farmers livelihoods As You Sée in the aboveslide how much olive treeproductivityincreased and by simple calculationswecanseethat the productivityincreased by 125 kg olive to give 30 kg olive oil which means 120 jd per dunum . Further more we keep the trees alive because we make water available for irrigation and some farmers shown that they have extra amount of water , and they began to plant vegetables for home use • Impact on local communities • Increasing the amount of water that reaches the land of the farmer within the same period of time assigned to him encouraged them to discuss with the project utilization of the best irrigation techniques like drip irrigation in order to save more water that can be used to intensively cultivate empty areas between trees to increase their incomes • Enough production for local use and for national use (no need to buy from outsource) 5

Impact on natural resource • Facilitating access to the water in the springhead. • Increasing water flow to the spring. • Reducing the rate of water wasted directly from the soil or through evaporation. • Making water reach agricultural land in an easier manner. • Increasing cultivated areas. • Increasing the productivity of irrigated trees. • Saving time and efforts exerted in the irrigation of tree

Recommendations to policy-makers to scale-up the innovation, and to remove constraints • The best way to achieve sustainable and true community development is to paying attention to the needs of local communities; giving them a chance to take about their own problems; and working with them to solve these problems, in addition to make sure not to promise them things that cannot be achieved. • Associations of water users are urgently needed especially in the areas where springs and waterways exist in order to preserve the sustainability of available establishments. • It is necessary to make sure that these associations have the necessary capacities for managing and preserving available constructions, as well as undertaking the needed training for its members. • It is highly important to pay attention to environmental consequences of the activities we undertake. Available projects, and even associations, may receive additional fund
