  4. Steps • I started by measuring the “back wall”, which was 12.25 ft. • I measured the “left wall”, which was 14 ft. • Knowing that my room was a rectangle, I then multiplied the back wall (12.25’) times the left wall (14’) and got the area of my ceiling (171.5’).

Steps • For the walls, I excluded the doors and windows by multiplying the length and width of the door or window, and subtracting the answer from the area of the wall • I then added all the wall’s areas. • Since I needed two coats of paint for the walls and ceiling, I multiplied the area of all the walls times 2, and the ceiling’s area times 2.

  6. Measurements and Calculations • Total wall area- 351 sq. ft. • For two coats, I need 2 gallons of Software • Total ceiling area- 171 sq. ft. • For two coats, I need 1 gallon of Online, because the total sq. ft. times 2 is only 342 ft.
