  3. It’s All about Connections • Start with story that establishes trust • Choreograph presentation • Vary kinesthetics with pace, content • Try to convert bad habits to good • Interact with audience

  4. General Advice • Write it yourself • Practice with live audience • Include role playing if appropriate • Get feedback from audience • Prepare for tough situations • Incorporate movement/activity for audience • End with call for response from audience

  5. Course Motivation (I) • Meet project requirement • Give view from other “side of the fence” • Build skills needed in industry • Build foundation for “people network” • Have fun!

  6. Course Motivation (II) • Use new technologies in class • Calendar program for meetings • CourseInfo website for interaction • Video for presentations • Survey software to evaluate success • Learn to be a better teacher • Avoid “busy work”

  7. Giving Presentations • Eschew outlines • They waste time and space • Talk should flow naturally • Avoid monotone • Be creative • Don’t need to use PowerPoint, etc. • Use us as “laboratory animals”

  8. Kinesthetics == Body Language + Motion • Use space wisely • 12+ feet == public • 4-12 feet == personal • 4- feet == intimate • Use posture to connect • Open palms • Leaning forward
