  1. 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 Radical, gospel centred living in the real world

  2. Overview The story so far Why worry? Believing in eternity and living in its light Confidence in these truths So what?

  3. The story so far Paul is facing opposition in Corinth Paul is facing difficulty and hardship Paul is facing real threats to his life God gives grace and strength in trials Look to eternal not worldly things The glory of the eternal reward will outweigh the trials of life

  4. Why worry? They can only kill me Earthly tents and eternal homes Philippians 1:21 We would rather be with the Lord anyway! Groaning and longing We will be gloriously clothed Anything less is idolatry

  5. Believing in eternity(and living in the light of it) We see the poverty of our current state We will groan and long for release We long for eternity which is much better Death will be swallowed up In life This has always been God’s plan for us We were made for this purpose The deposit and guarantee Hebrews 11:13, 1 Peter 1:17 & 2:11 This is not an excuse for laziness

  6. Confident in these truths What can men do (or give) to me? Religious extremism Live by faith not by sight (2 Kings 6:17) We would prefer to be with the Lord We will all face judgement (Matt 10:28)

  7. So what? Do we have such “small attachments” to the things of this world? Are we willing to tear down every idol? Do we long to see Jesus in eternity? If not, why not? Are we radical religious extremists? Are we living and walking by faith? Do we see the world and our lives as God sees them? Are we ready to face judgement? What will you do differently as a result of this?
