Key Figures • Submission: April 2003 as ETI - Specific Support Action • Project start: 1st March, 2004 • Duration: 3 years • Project partner: 28 partners out of 26 countries (3 CC, 3 AC, 20 MS) • Coordination: FFG- Austrian Research Promotion AgencyDivision for European and International Programmes • Budget: 2.557 855 Euro • EC contribution: 1.734 025 Euro

Major Achievements Capacity building and training • more than 437 high quality SMEs entered into the database • more than 341 researchers profiles into the database • national training sessions organised (more than 189) • trans-national information and training sessions (6 in total) • 31 training sessions for Incubators and Bio-valleys • exchange of information at several conferences and meetings Consortium building and match making • pro-active integration of SMEs based on partner searches • partnering events – virtual ones and real ones • integration of SMEs in 192 projects

SMEs go Life Sciences SMEs go Health Supporting SME-academia collaboration in the area of biomedical research in FP7 through efficient matching facilities and tailor-made information with special focus on NMS and ACC …..The lessons learnt in SMEs go Life Sciences will help to improve and optimize the activities planned for SMEs go Health…. www.smesgohealth.org

Key Figures • Submission: 9th of November 2005 - (4th Call of thematic priority 1, as Specific Support Action) • Project start: 1st February, 2007 • Duration: 3 years • Project partner: 29 partner from 27 countries (12 MS, 10 NMS, 3 AS, 2 ACC) • Coordination: FFG- Austrian Research Promotion AgencyDivision for European and International Programmes

The consortium • The network of 29 partners from 27 countries is highly motivated and committed: • 2 candidate countries (ACC): Croatia and Turkey • 3 Associated States (AS): Israel, Norway and Switzerland • 10 New Member States (NMS): Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia • 12 Old Member States: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, UK • Project partners are highly experienced in working with SMEs and research organisations - most of them act as National Contact Points (NCPs)

Envisage objectives • strenghten transnational research cooperations between SMEs and academic institutions • encourage the establishment of joint research projects by using the funding opportunities of FP7 in the Health area • facilitate partnering and consortium building by paving the way for an easier identification of competent and suitable research partners with the needed expertise and know-how …with a clear focus on NMS & CC
