  1. 3 Interesting Places in Michigan Michigan is the 0th most populated region and the 11th most extensive region of the United States. With more than 10 million residents, it accounts for being the largest and one of the most populated metropolitan cities. It got its name Michigan from the Ojibwe word –Mishigami which stands for –large water or a large lake. Michigan is the only state with 2peninsulas both beings separate by the Straits of Mackinac. Michigan is truly diverse and it appeals to people from different parts of the world to be a part of the interesting experiences.

  2. Mackinac Island: Mackinac Island is an island resort located in Lake Huron on the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac. The 4.3 square miles island was home to an Odawa settlement before the European colonization in the 17th century. A strategic location for trading fur and the site for two battles that took place in 1812. During the late 19th century, the island started gaining attention as a popular tourist attraction, because of its historical record the entire island has been listed in the National Historic Landmark. It is a well know site for hosting several cultural events, its Victorian styled hotels, and its sophisticated architecture.

  3. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located on the shores of Lake Superior along the Upper Peninsula, Michigan. This picturesque lakeshore has one of the most beautiful views, hilly shorelines, weird rock formations, striking waterfalls, and sand dunes. The colorful sandstone cliffs rise almost 200 feet above lake level. The sandstone cliffs are beautifully sculpted in the form of shallow caves, arches, formations some of which resemble castle turrets. In 1966 the U.S. Congress designated it as the first National Lakeshore in the United States.

  4. The Tahquamenon Falls: The Tahquamenon Falls are 2 distinct waterfalls located along the Tahquamenon River near Lake Superior, eastern Peninsula of Michigan. The falls are notable for their brownish color from the tannis leached cedar swamps which are drained by the river. The upper region of the Tahquamenon Falls is called the Root Beer Falls and is more than 200 feet across. The River drains around 50,000 gallons of water per second making it the 3rd most voluminous waterfall in the east of the Mississippi River. The lower trail is located 4 miles downstream and consists of a series of 5 smaller –falls. There is a hiking trail that is sandwiched between the falls.
