Galatians 5: 22-23 22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness , goodness , faithfulness, 23  gentleness and self-control. “Kindness” in Hebrew : Hesed “Kindness” in Greek : Chrestotes. “Hesed” Mercy Kindness Steadfast Love Loving-Kindness.

  4. Hosea 11: 3-4 3  “It was I who taught Ephraim to walk,    taking them by the arms;but they did not realize    it was I who healed them.4 I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love.To them I was like one who lifts    a little child to the cheek,    and I bent down to feed them.”

  5. Isaiah 49: 14-16 14 But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” 15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?Though she may forget I will not forget you!16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands”

  6. “Chrestotes” • Having a tender and sincere concern for others. Having a nurturing spirit. Being sensitive to the needs of others.

  7. Matthew 23:27 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.”

  8. 1 Thessalonians 2: 7-8 7  “…Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, 8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”

  9. The fruit of KINDNESS (which focuses on Spirit-driven empathy and caring for others) naturally flows into the next fruit… GOODNESS (which is more active)

  10. “Agathosune” • being open-heartedly generous or benevolent in actions towards others, which flows from internal righteousness and a desire for truth and justice.

  11. Galatians 6:10 • “Therefore, as we have opportunity, • let us do good to all people, • especially to those who belong • to the family of believers.”

  12. 1 Thessalonians 5:15 • “Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive • to do what is good for each other • and for everyone else.”

  13. Titus 3: 3-8 The extravagant kindness of Jesus Christ and God’s call to goodness

  14. Titus 3:3 “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.”

  15. Titus 3: 4-6 4 “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior”

  16. Titus 3: 7-8 7 “…so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitablefor everyone.”
