  3. Topics from which to choose: • Choices of starter sentences (choose one): • I admire _________ more than anyone else in the world. • It would be easier to be a (boy/girl) than it is to be a (girl/boy). • If I could wake up tomorrow with one new talent or ability, I would be able to _________.

  4. Start with a topic sentence: My favorite thing is ice cream.

  5. Then, write your three support sentences: • 10 words or more • Remember to expand using and, but or because • Ask questions such as: how?when?where? why?

  6. You must add a conclusion • This sentence gives no new information • It echoes what is in the topic sentence, but it is in different words • It doesn’t need to be 10 words

Example of a Paragraph • My favorite thing is ice cream.Ice cream comes in many flavors, such as rocky road and bubble gum, not to mention vanilla.It makes me feel nice and cool on hot summer days!It reminds me of when I was young when my Dad and I used to go to the ice cream parlor.These are just three of the many reasons why I like ice cream.

Computer time • Open Microsoft Word • Start keyboarding your paragraph • Use correct posture • Use the home row position • Use the Backspace key to correct errors • Check spelling and punctuation • Save your document in the folder on the desktop entitled “Paragraphs” under your name, first and last
