  1. ERECTION OF FORMWORK

  2. PROCEDURES INVOLVED IN ERECTION OF FORMWORK The concrete surface should be smooth because it is mostly exposed. To achieve the smoothness required use plywood or panels that are undamaged. The panels produce straight lines that are accepted by the engineers for a strong erection of formwork. Materials for the formwork are identified and approved before procurement takes place. Quality assurance and control takes place at this level depending on the specification of the required materials. All erection of formwork needs paperwork approval and work permits that are obtained from the relevant institution and approved by the organization. For the concealed surfaces that will receiveplaster, the use of sound grade and rough sawn boards is highly recommended to increase the mechanical bond. Form ties can be fabricated for easy adjustable of the lengths and designed for easy removal to avoid spilling of the concrete.

  3. EXECUTING AN ERECTION OF FORMWORK • Formwork is a very complex and rigid process that requires correct and accurate measurements. Verify all lines of formwork, check the levels and accuracy of measurement before continuing to formwork. • The sides and bottoms of the earth forms can be hand- trimmed to remove loose dirt. Align the different components of formwork depending on the structural specifications.

  5. CONCLUSION • Formwork erection suggests that the layout drawings should remain the same. No deviations and must be approved by a qualified engineer. Any alteration may reduce their stability, this means there should be adequate bracing while setting formwork. The deck system that supports the concrete should not be supported by the wall forms unless they are part of the structure design.
