  2. How to Tell Accusatives Apart Accusatives, like Ablatives are named based on what information they provide. For each accusative you want to know 1. what information is provided 2. which prepositions (if any) are used

  3. Accusative of Direction Toward These tell you to which place the subject is moving. pirata in mare decidit. Quintus ad villam currit. The prepositions used are: ad and in.

  4. Accusative of Duration of Time These tell you for how long the action was done. tres horas laborabam. multos annos in Campagnia habitabat. No preposition is used. Translate with “for”.
