Why Is Jk Rowling Wrong I will start this review by letting you all know it may be colored by the fact that I'm a HUGE Potterhead...so make of that what you will! Having read every Harry Potter novel and seen every Harry Potter film (and a whole lot of fan fiction), I believed for years that J.K. Rowling could do no wrong. However, after the release of the disappointing Cursed Child script earlier this year, I was nervous for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Although not written by Rowling, Cursed Child had her stamp of approval. Was the Harry Potter universe about to suffer over–dilution to the point of ruining everything? No. Fantastic Beasts confirmed, for me, that J.K. Rowling is still a magical writer who can do no wrong. Fantastic Beasts and...show more content... Jacob is basically all of us if we found out magic was real: "I wanna be a wizard." He continued to steal the show and quickly became everyone's favorite character. He's another unlikely hero we didn't know we needed (god bless you JKR.) Fantastic Beasts isn't short of strong female characters either. Katherine Waterston as Goldstein and Alison Sudol as her sister Queenie are powerful women who rarely need saving. The President of the Ministry of Magic in America is even a woman...which is pretty bold for the 1920's ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
J. K. Rowling is the author of the best–selling Harry Potter series. As Bruno Bettelheim says, "If we hope to live not just moment to moment, but in true consciousness of our existence, then our greatest need and most difficult achievement is to find meaning in our lives" (Bettelheim 2). "when children are young, it is literature that carries such information best" (Bettelheim 4). In literary circles, mention of Rowling or her work is likely to raise some tempers. Critics find her work "antithetical to established literary values, sustained by clearly monetary interests, and which in a few short years has climbed to an astonishing peak of international glory and financial success" (Virole 1). The beginning of Rowling's series is...show more content... K. Rowling is well–known for her books telling the adventures of a young wizard named Harry Potter who attends Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her first novel was published in England in 1997 as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and audiences in the United States waited almost a year for the book to come out in America as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Rowling was born July 31, 1965 in Chipping Sodbury, and she showed a proficiency with story– telling at a young age. She attended Wyedean Comprehensive for secondary school. She studied French and the classics in college at Exeter University, and upon her graduation, she moved to London to work as a researcher and secretary. While there, she started work on Harry Potter, although it took her several years to actually complete it. Rowling moved to Portugal in the early 1990s to teach English. She met Jorges Arantes, a Portuguese journalist, and married him on October 16, 1992. Rowling had a daughter with Arantes, and in late 1994, she moved back to the United Kingdom with her and settled in Edinburg. Shortly after, the couple divorced. On December 26, 2001, she married her current husband, Dr. Neil Murray. The couple has two children, and the four of them live in Scotland along with Rowling's daughter from her first marriage ("J. JK Rowling: My Role Model JK Rowling has been my role model ever since I picked up one of her books in a store. After just a few sentences I fell hook line and sinker for this story. What I admire the most is that she took the male dominated writing industry by Storm. She made in now just ate books what Stephen King did manage to do in 98 published works. She stood up and gave little girls everywhere the inspiration they needed to make their dreams come true. Furthermore she managed to escape a little dreary thing called depression which is a feat in itself. As an aspiring female author JK Rowling has offered me the confidence and inspiration I need to bring life to my imagination. As a tale so is life not how long it is but how good it is is what matters very good lifes Introduction Joanne Jo Rowling also known by her pen name JK Rowling and Robert Galbraith was born on 31st July 1965 in Yate Gloucestershire England. Jk Rowling's Speech Analysis J.K. Rowling's 2008 Harvard Commencement Speech J.K. Rowling, famous for writing the Harry Potter series, presented her commencement speech to Harvard on June of 2008. She had people from graduates to non–graduates gather before her. She gave an inspiring speech on the "importance of imagination" and "benefits of failure" (Rowling). She describes her main points effectively to the audience by using strategies such as ethos, logos, and pathos as well as tone. In Rowling's speech, she uses ethos by sharing her life experiences to show that failure is inevitable. Rowling has first hand experienced a poor life and said, "I had failed on an epic scale...I was the biggest failure I knew" (Rowling). Standing before hundreds of people, Rowling...show more content... She uses the humor to keep her audience entertained and to make her speech one to remember. She creates a bond to the audience reminding them that she has been in their place and remembers what it was like. She continues to use humor like "Not only has Harvard given me an extraordinary honour, but ... A win–win situation!" (Rowling). This is because she can relate to the graduates nerves of going into the real world. She shows them that even she has felt the same feelings. Rowling, also, presents a more serious tone to the audience. For example, in her two main points of the "benefits of failure" and the "importance of imagination", she tries to motivate those watching that failing is a part of life and she has failed many times. She tells us "Failure taught me things about myself... found out that I had friend whose value was truly above the price of rubies." (Rowling). Using the same tone, she provides the audience with the "importance of imagination". Since she is giving a speech to such an elite school, she believes they have not experienced failure but the fear is what scares them. The fear is of them failing when they are becoming a Harvard graduate. She thinks they have forgotten about how important imagination is by saying, "We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
Essay about J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Harry Potter is an orphaned boy whose parents were attacked and killed by the evil wizard, Lord Voldemort. The boy survived the horrible slaying, which left him with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. He lives with his disagreeable uncle and aunt and unpleasantly selfish cousin during summer months. The boy attends the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he learns about potions, flying on a broomstick, and fighting off the evil Lord Voldemort. Harry Potter is adored by children of all ages, along with adults, for his witty humor and fantasy adventures. Children crave his friendship and magic powers. Rowling is in the process of writing her fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and then two more books that will end the series of Harry Potter (El Desouki par 2). Her books have become so popular for ages 9–15–year– olds, along with adults, that the books have been translated into 42 languages and have sold over 76 million copies (Gray par. 1). Rowling is a very skilled writer because she uses descriptive and effective imagery to draw in readers. She uses traditional story telling with "scary adventures, mishaps, success, and the theme of good triumphing over evil" (Ballard par. 2). Rowling writes about real relationships that are important for children to have. Hogwarts School is filled with magical unreality, but children find Harry's personality and mishaps intriguing. She uses familiar settings to portray children and wizards (Ballard par. 3). Rowling writes about wizards and evil, her stories are exciting and make the reader want more. When J.K. Rowling first wrote Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 1997, I refused to read the books because I am not into fantasy and magic. However, as a student at Goshen College I was required to read the first book for Children's Literature. The first 100 pages were a struggle to get through, but the longer I read, the more I wanted to know about Harry. After finishing the first book, I realized that I needed to ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

Jk Rowling When Fiction Goes Too Far Have you ever heard the saying a good story gone too far? That is exactly the view that some readers have of JK Rowling's new piece of writing. Using the tools that I have gained in this class I have been able to fully explain and investigate both Rowling's position and the Native Peoples' positions and how they tie into society's views of race and ethnicity. Recently, JK Rowling wrote the first of a four part series called the History of Magic in North America and while many have supported her work: many have also criticized it (color lines article). This piece of writing is the basis of the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which is a story that describes the magical new world in the 14th to 17th Centuries...show more content... In the many tweets and retweets people are voicing their opinions, but in a spontaneous and unorganized way. It can be compared to the example of the dance party that Mitch showed us in class (class discussion 3/3/16). The people in the example were following the lead of the instigator and the same is occurring in this instance. The first of many to pose her thoughts about the piece on twitter was Dr. Adrienne Keene. After many retweets and likes other tweets from various twitter users appeared. While these tweets have the goal of exposing how Rowling's writing appropriates their cultural traditions, there is no set pattern or structure to how they are occurring. This shows me that it is not a planned and laid out movement with the goal of lasting a long time. Cultural activism is also very prevalent in this retaliation. The native people are standing up for their rights and speaking out against the appropriation of their traditions and in doing so they are practicing nonviolent direct action. They are speaking out, but they are doing it in a nonviolent way. The comments have presented the concerns using social media as a ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

Influence–"the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself (influence)." When a painting touches someone, when a song brings one to tears, or when words cause us to think twice about our life it influences us. By recognizing J.K. Rowling's early life, her personal life, and her books it is easy to prove that she is one of the most influential writers of her time. During J.K. Ronald, also known as Ron, was inspired by Seán Harris and his turquoise Ford Anglia was the inspiration for the flying car in the books (Pollack). Finally Hermione was a mere image of herself. This shows how her childhood friends played a big role in her becoming a writer and having something to write about. According to the article "Inside the Magical World of 'Harry Potter' author" because she experienced "the absence of any meaningful relationship with her father and the loss her mother" she has obtained a great influence for her writing. This allowed her to create stung father figures for Harry Potter such as Rubeus Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore, and Sirius Black. This evidence illustrated that with hard times can appear a beautiful creation. While writing, she fell into a "deep depression [which] inspired the creation of the dementor (Inside the Magical World of 'Harry Potter' author)." This shows that it is possible to find the light in the darkness no matter how much that may not seem possible. Jk Rowling Research Paper The British author J.K Rowling, who is responsible for fueling my imagination and creativity and providing me with an open–minded and loving community via her Harry Potter series, is one of the world's most successful and influential writers. However, even after I've turned the last page of the final novel of the "Harry Potter" series, Rowling continues to be a great example of a role model, and remains being someone I will always look up to. Apart from her literary work, she has established and donated to various charitable organizations. The following paragraphs describe few of the many examples where Rowling shows how much she strives for change, especially for treatment towards women in the world and her fight against poverty. Strong feminists are an absolute necessity when living in a world where girls are constantly demeaned for our gender, preferences, and lifestyle choices, and J.K Rowling is one of the most knowledgeable and inspiring feminists in the world. In addition, she founded Lumos; a charity driven to help children living in Eastern Europe who are needy and underprivileged. Maybe the fact that J.K Rowling knows what it is like to be indigent and poor, because she lived off of welfare once while being a single mother, makes her donate her money to these charities.
