  3. BACKGROUND INFORMATION • Level 2 facility under Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation • Located in Mombasa County, Coast Province. • catchment population -10,000 • Number of staff- 10

  5. MOPHS MISSION To provide effective leadership and participate in the provision of public health and sanitation services that are equitable, responsive, accessible and accountable to Kenyans.

  6. MOPHS VISION • A Nation free from preventable diseases and ill health Facility Vision • A community free from deliveries by unskilled birth attendants

  7. DESIRABLE MEASURABLE RESULT Number of deliveries by skilled birth attendants increased from a total of 3 between June and October 2011 to 30 from November to March 2012.

  8. Justification and pre-LDP situation • AOP targets for reproductive health performance were not met • Population of women of reproductive age in catchment area 1500 deliveries in facility for 7 months prior to LDP—only 3 • Low utilization of delivery services

  10. Challenge Statement • How will we increase the number of deliveries by skilled birth attendants from 3 to 30 in six months in light of insecurity, cultural practices and management gaps
