Galatians 2. Chapter 1 – Review . Paul is an apostle called by God. The Galatians shouldn’t be enticed by “another gospel” – the one taught by the Judaizers. He didn’t receive his gospel from men. 2:1-10, Paul at Jerusalem. V. 1, cf. Acts 15:2 V. 2, He went to Jerusalem by revelation.

  2. Chapter 1 – Review • Paul is an apostle called by God. • The Galatians shouldn’t be enticed by “another gospel” – the one taught by the Judaizers. • He didn’t receive his gospel from men.

  3. 2:1-10, Paul at Jerusalem • V. 1, cf. Acts 15:2 • V. 2, He went to Jerusalem by revelation. • He spoke privately to those of reputation to prevent an uproar.

  4. 2:1-10, Paul at Jerusalem • V. 3, the question at hand – being circumcised and keeping the law, cf. Acts 16:3 • V. 4, The compulsion was from false brethren trying to bring them into bondage to the law of Moses.

  8. 2:11-21, Paul Confronts Peter • V. 11, Paul publicly confronted Peter over his hypocrisy. Cf. 1 Timothy 5:20, 1 Peter 5:1 • V. 12, Peter was being a hypocrite in front of those sent from Jerusalem.

  9. 2:11-21, Paul Confronts Peter • V. 13, His sin carried others away with him, cf. 1 Corinthians 5:6 • V. 14, paraphrasing Doddridge – Is it not at least as lawful for them to neglect the Jewish observances as it was for you to do a few days ago?

  11. 2:11-21, Paul Confronts Peter • V. 17, If we seek to be justified by Christ and live as sinners, is it the fault of Christ? No! • V. 18, Destroyed the Law by teaching against the necessity of keeping it. To bind it again would be sinful.

  12. 2:11-21, Paul Confronts Peter • V. 19 • Paul understood the requirements of the Law and the hopelessness of one who has broken it (Romans 7). • One law (the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus) had made free from another (the law of Sin and Death) – Romans 8:2
