  2. 6 Tool Types every Freelancer Blogger or Writer should try Blogging, content writing or even articles –it’s all about writing engaging, relevant and interesting text. Many freelancers have made that into their main income source, including me. It is viable, but it can be difficult at times. There is so much content out there that writing an original, value-adding article is just as hard as it sounds. Thankfully, a lot of tools can help you along the way. Creating a platform, understanding your audience and visualizing your articles are all aspects of being a writing freelancer. Here are some of our favorite tools, divided in six categories: info@freelancermap.com

  4. 1) Blog creation First off, you need something to create your blog with. There are tons of free tools out there, but none is as popular and as versatile as WordPress. According to W3Techs, WordPress account for almost 25% of all sites on the Internet. That’s a ton and there’s a reason for it. With over 40,000 plugins, many of them free, WordPress gives you a lot of freedom for designing your blog. And it’s not just design either. Loading speeds, security, SEO and much more can be improved with WordPress plugins. info@freelancermap.com

  5. 2) Analytics Google Analytics is THE tool to use for understanding your audience. It can help you analyze and utilize a ton of information. When do your users tend to visit your site, where do they browse from, how did they get to your page? These and many more questions and their answers are essential to creating your business strategy. info@freelancermap.com

  6. 3) Image Libraries Yes, you need images as a writer. Just look at a newspaper nowadays – almost half of the front page is usually covered by a photograph or other visual elements. Pictures draw attention and tell a story of their own. Think of pictures as your visual headlines. You can get free (and stunning!) images at sites like Unsplash Pixabay or Flickr. info@freelancermap.com

  7. 4) Infographics Speaking about visuals, infographics have the ability to relay a ton of information, concentrating the main points of your article into a single image. Piktochart and Easel.ly are both really great tools for creating infographics. More importantly – they don’t cost a cent. Piktochart is where you want to go if you have no experience with creating infographics or design. Its tips and tutorials are on spot. Easel.ly is for the experienced image creators among you. With this tool, you can show a lot of creativity without preset templates. info@freelancermap.com

  8. 5) Text checkers You probably have a simple text checking tool like Microsoft Word already. And that’s important – nobody wants to fix all your punctuation and typos. But things like the Hemingway App help you go the extra mile. It highlights overly complex sentences and marks those annoying passive voice phrases. In short, it makes your text better to read. Go ahead, try it out! info@freelancermap.com

  9. 6) Books and articles The most important and traditional tool for writers is, and remains, reading. Even in the Internet age. Be curious, ask questions and seek explanations. No matter what type of content you’re creating, learning and knowing more is the main prerequisite for a good piece. Happy writing! info@freelancermap.com
