  3. What is GAPP? • The German American Partnership Program (GAPP) is a non-profit high school exchange program between schools in Germany and the United States, sponsored by the German Foreign Office and by the US Department of State. • http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/lp/prj/gapp/enindex.htm

  4. Purposes and Goals • The main objective of the Program is the integration of students into the everyday life of host families and into the classroom activities of host schools to provide them with a coherent intercultural experience. • http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/lp/prj/gapp/enindex.htm

  5. GAPP 2012-13 Eligibility • Current 9th and 10th graders • Will complete at least German 2 by June 2012 (current German 1 or higher) • Good academic standing in all subjects • No discipline issues, ISS or OSS • Recommended by teachers

  12. Expectations of Host Families • 1. Room, board, T-Shirts, activity fees/costs for the three week homestay. • 2. Transportation to school and activities. • 3. Help plan and carry out GAPP activities. • 4. Treat the student like a member of the family.

  17. GAPP 2012-13 Hosting Expenses • Germans in America -- General expenses Welcome/Farewell -- $20 per family member 3 meals a day for 21 days -- $10 per day = $210 Transportation -- $20 T-Shirts ($10 x 2 = $20) Activity fees (estimate $170) Hosting Expenses Estimate: $400
