When and how often? • The Big Write is every two weeks and held on a Thursday. • The teaching of VCOP is held before play. • The writing task after play. • This allows the children time to think or consolidate their ideas through play.
VCOP • Vocabulary • Connectives • Openers • Punctuation • These need to be taught specifically. • Displays reflect the work collected in these sessions.
What should it be about? • It is normally an individual task, not necessarily linked to the literacy topic. • Work is levelled and shows progression throughout the year. Positive and fun!
Sparkle Writing • Sparkle writing is a fun activity which often starts the day. • Children have a special ‘Sparkle Book’. • They can write about whatever they like. • A piece of work is selected each week to display.
