Chieta Regional officeChallenges • Out of scope certificates • Project Management • Non-CHIETA Projects, anticipate delays. • Workplace approvals must be in place before commencing with project. • Learner contracts must be duly completed- Follow Checklists Provided. MOAs also lists deliverables clearly. • Clear certified ID documents (dated within 3 months) and highest qualifications. • Invoice dates should allow CHIETA 21 days for payment • Change requests/Withdrawals/Sweeps

  14. Elinem Construction118 learners from Northern KZN were trained as apprentices in Welding & Boilermaking. 112 learners have been trade tested and employed by various companies throughout the country.

Research Project:CHIETA Success stories CHIETA Research Unit profiled learners in the KZN Area Bafana Mahlangu - ARPL • Bafana grew up in a rural area of Richards Bay and was raised by his "gogo". • Worked as a Workshop Assistant for 15 years – gained skills and experience in Boilermaking and Welding. • One day he heard about the opportunity advertised by CHIETA, for people who would like to be RPL’ed to become an artisan. • This was a big opportunity for him because one can only start a business if you are a qualified artisan. He applied for it and got it. He spent 1 month at the Richards Bay Technical Training Centre doing a refresher course on Boilermaking, and then passed the trade test first time. • He immediately started a business. It has been just over a year and he has a few clients already. When he is busy he is able to employ 4 people. •  He is very grateful for the RPL opportunity, as it enabled him to start a business. 

  17. CHIETA Success stories Nompumelelo Mbutho Chemical Operations learnership “Mbuthowas raised by a single parent. She started her work career as a domestic worker , did a chemical operations learner ship through CHIETA funding , she did her work experience at Dulux , taken permanently as an operator and promoted to a receiving clerk position. She is ambitious, goal driven an excellent performer with positive attitude” Currently doing B Tech at DUT, funded by Chieta

  18. Coastal TVET CollegeCHIETA sponsored : 3 Year Chemical Operator Program • 58 Learners graduated in Dec 2018 in the Chemical Operator Learnership Program. • On the Job Experiential Training received from SAPREF, Engen, Isegen, Dulux, NCS Resin Group, Unilever, Blendcor, IVS, ImproChem.

Chieta sponsors >Disability Projects Chieta sponsorship to Bidvest Tank Terminals (BTT) for Up-skilling PWDs Some of the learners who have achieved NC in MechEng /Prod Tech; and currently enrolled for NC in Business Administration. Learners have sustainable jobs at Greenable Recycling ( based in Pinetown). Workplace activities include recycling and re-assembly of print ink/toner cartridges.

  20. Chieta sponsors >Disability Projects Unilever Contact Centre NQF Level 2 Program Chieta Sponsored UNILEVER for a Learnership program to train 80 students on Call Centre Operations NQF L2. Learners based in Mpumalanga /Gauteng/KZN.
