  2. About US • Friend of the earth promotes sustainable agricultural and Farming Methods through their certification & by awaring consumers in Italy and all over the world. The Friend of the earth certification scheme for sustainable agriculture & farming was a first initiative by Paolo Bray, founder and director of the world sustainability organization & developed according to SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture systems) guidelines issued by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization). It is based on principles that are basically focus on protection and conservation of ecosystem for promoting biological control, livestock biodiversity and genetic heritage to foster a close link between animals and territory.

Sustainable Agriculture Certification • The Friend of the Earth certification scheme promotes a model of sustainable agriculture production based on the integration of innovation aimed at decreasing the environmental impact of crop farming and on the respect of workers employed all along the productive chain. Introduction of the use of energy from renewable sources, integrated control and no tillage are good examples of corrective actions that the Friend of the earth certification encourages. Our certification encourages corrective actions for Recovering and conserving indigenous breeds characterized by marked resilience and suitable for integration with the ecosystem, promoting outdoor and extensive breeding, reducing the use of antibiotics and allopathic pharmaceuticals are one of the good examples. • The Friend of the Earth Certification scheme for sustainable breeding was developed by keeping in mind the SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture systems) guidelines set by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization).
