  1. Context For This PowerPoint Hello, The PowerPoint you will find here was created to be a helpful tool. It is not necessary that presenters use this format, order, or look. Given the number of presentations that the Commission will be hearing on 2/26, and the necessary time constraints, some organization of the presentations will assist the commissioners. The Center for Collaborative Policy, CSU Sacramento is assisting the CRC in preparing for their 2/26 session. If you have any questions or would like to talk any aspect of the 2/26 session through please call Sarah Rubin, CCP, 916.341.3331. Reminder: The goal of the 2/26/11 session is not to receive formal community of interest testimony. Formal hearings to collect community of interest testimony are currently being scheduled and will be held across the state.

  2. Name of your Organization Presenter Name(s) Contact Info California Citizens Redistricting Commission Educational Session February 26, 2011 [This format is just one suggestion; groups should adopt & adjust as they deem appropriate]

  3. Your Organization • Headquarters • Local offices • Mission of your organization • And/or the bigger picture -- what is your over arching purpose? (especially if your organization does more than just redistricting)

  4. Your Organization & Redistricting • What is your organization trying to achieve as far as redistricting?

  5. Outreach To Date • What your organization has been doing…

  6. My Org’s Outreach Efforts • Cities/counties/regions my organization is working in and/or plans/hopes to work in • Languages we are and/or plan to/ hope to provide materials in • Please note if your organization is thinking about submitting a state-wide plan for redistricting

  7. My Org’s Outreach Plans • How my organization is planning to mobilize this spring and summer as the CRC does it’s work

  8. Suggestions for CRC Success • My Organization recommends that the CRC do x, y, z (whatever you think)… to be successful • Other suggestions…anything else you think the CRC should be thinking about

  9. [Other suggested considerations from the Center for Collaborative Policy…] • Please consider keeping your presentation to15 minutes • Please consider limiting your presentation to about 10 PowerPoint slides & consider the usual PPT tips • Don’t overload your slides with too much text or data. • If you have additional data you’d like to share consider providing an additional text only handout. • Pictures & graphics help tell your story. • Number your slides so the Commissioners can easily reference them if/when they have questions. • Please plan to bring handouts.

  10. [Additional preparation information from CCP] • Please email srubin@ccp.csus.edu and votersfirstact@crc.ca.gov if you would like to present 2/26. • Please bring your presentation on a USB drive so it can be projected while you speak. • Your presentation will be saved electronically and posted on the wedrawthelines.ca.gov website after the session. • Sarah Rubin will distribute a schedule with approximate times that each group will present by 2/24/11. • Members of the public or groups that do not register to present 2/26 are welcome to make public comment after those who registered are finished.
