This project, led by Aydan Kansu in Turkey, explores the role of gut microbiota in functional disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE). We review the positive effects of probiotic treatments, including various strains like Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, in alleviating IBS symptoms. Furthermore, EoE is identified as an emerging clinicopathologic condition, with a focus on its prevalence and impact on children’s feeding difficulties and associated atopic conditions. Understanding these relationships is crucial for effective management.
