The Residual Separation & Research Facility 1) It is the NEXUS between community responsibility and industrial responsibility. 2) It integrates HIGHER EDUCATION into Zero Waste Solutions 3) It has the potential to link zero waste solutions with other aspects of sustainability 4) It has the potential to attract very creative designers (Waste is a design problem) 5) It is key alternative to the “magic machine”

Zero Waste Research Center announced for Capannori, Italy Jan 23, 2010 3. An exciting meeting planned for Coventry, UK Sept 8-9, 2011 4. A private company (VAR) maybe already doing something like this in the Netherlands.

VAR (Netherlands) http://www.var.nl/ “When we visited VAR, they sent about two percent of their waste for incineration.  They are located on a 75 hectare site and have an inert landfill.  They were processing 1.3 million tonnes of waste per annum.  They are a private company that had to compete with incineration companies that were slashing their gate fees to try and attract waste because there was over capacity in the incineration business.” (Richard Lord, Guernsey)
