  6. Healthcare Consulting While the living spaces determine the quality of living, the architectural features of the hospitals determine the quality of health and ease of availing it. The architecture that is both convenient and serves the purpose is what everyone expects. With a vision for patient’s requirement and the futuristic needs of the society as a whole, the management of hospitals are predicting a dire need for the infrastructures that enable hospitals to deliver convenience and simpli- fied healthcare. Adopting the spic-and-span and convenient facility features is one of the characteristics of healthcare industry. Gone are the days healthcare practices used to follow the stereotypic features. Overriding the traditional architec- tural values, healthcare practices these days are following the infrastructural patterns that are perfectly balanced with technology and convenience of the individuals. The hospital infrastructure plays a vital role in fulfilling the health demands of the person. The room allocation and the department place- ment sometimes could become the only factor that has saved a life. Keep- ing this in mind, the healthcare archi- tects are on a constant search for the most suitable blueprint of an ideal hospital. Elevating enough room to deal with various medical conditions, the hospi- tals these days are being crafted as the facilities of assurance for good health. As the industry is on a constant quest for the optimum facility, every day is dawned with a new innovation in terms of infrastruc- ture. The Future of Hospital Infrastructure 06

  7. Keeping the needs of future in mind here are a few healthcare facility enhancements and architectural changes that may occur in the times to come. Primary Consultation and Examination Rooms – Primary care and examination rooms are going to be the point-of-care units for the health care seekers. The technological advances in diagnostic patterns and organiza- tional streamlining strategies make the patient experience enhanced. The care too will be personalized and the facility will attain the approach of patient-centrality. Medical and Surgical Patient Rooms – The manual surgical procedures would be replaced by the minimally invasive and robotic surgeries. And, the surgery rooms will enable the doctors in accessing the medical records, in viewing the internal organs and in performing the procedures with accuracy and precision. Intensive Care Unit Patient Rooms – With the dire need of close observation and critical medical care, the ICUs will be designed allowing the doctors to instantly access the medical records and perform the instant health checks with the help of improved real time health trackers of various organs. Patient Rooms with Integrated Screens – Medical records are critical in analyzing the individual’s health conditions and the doctors and other healthcare providers are dependent on moni- tors. Doctors may view the medical data on the big screens with superior resolution levels in the future, thanks to the latest technology in televi- sion screen development. 07

  8. Geriatric Home Healthcare The Cons of Being a Caregiver to a Family Member There is no greater deed than helping the elderly family members who are in need of a helping hand during the illness or age related physical inability. The caregiver in the family will be of a great help to the elderly by being the best aid and by fulfilling all their needs without being asked for. They would be the only solace of the elderly hearts in the most difficult phase of life. Caregiving gives contentment and a feel of fulfilling responsibility. However, this is only one side of the coin. Caregiving is a tough job that deals with a lot of psychological and physical stress. This very stress, if not managed or addressed can lead to serious mental and physical health complica- tions. It is common to see caregivers often seek psychological help because of the high levels of stress and anxiety. The negative complications that are associated with Caregiving can be managed in the right way by the profes- sionals who are in caregiving. However, when it comes to the family members who support their elderly as caregivers, it is a strenuous task. It is important for caregivers to engage regularly in social activities and in things that relieve the stress that caused by caregiving. Here are 4 ways through which caregiving by a family member can impact on your personal life. And, How Geriatric Home Cares could Help You in This Aspect themselves 08

  9. Depression and Loneliness Caregivers ensure their elderly ones are not feeling abandoned by becoming their comfort point. However, it is the caregivers who feel lonely. Be it because of seeing their elderly slowly drifting into the phase of aging or be it for seeing the agony their seniors are expe- riencing, caregivers become depressed. In addition, they sometimes feel lonely when there no comforting hand around. Missing Social Life Caregivers are always expected to be with their elderly to ensure their needs are fulfilled. And, these needs could not be foretold which make the caregiver just to be there at the time of need - one of the main reasons why caregivers could not experience their social life. It is not surprising to see caregivers expressing their grief for their reduced social life. Physical Health Issues In caregiving, sleepless nights and restless days are common as you are taking care of another human being who has daily physical needs of their own. Sometimes they even skip their meals in order to take care of their elderly if the need is there. Added the mental stress, neglected behavior towards own health takes a big toll by causing various physical health issues and some- times serious illness. Reduced Work-Life Balance Caregiving forces to compromise on work and personal life. Due to the mental and physical stress involved in it, one may not be able to concentrate and misses the balance between professional and personal life. Taking care of your aging parents is a sincere responsibility. However, if they are unable to maintain work-life balance it is most advisable to search for alternative options such as elderly home care. Caregiving is helping to heal but it is not a simple job for a family member considering the complications it causes both in terms of physical and mental health. There is nothing wrong in seeking help from the professional caregivers which are now available in India, thanks to the geriatric home healthcare services. 09
