Academics • Identify new or existing course to be taught overseas • Set requirements (GPA, language requirement, etc.) • Put together proposal that includes academics and logistics • Agreement with local university? • Agreement with Travel Agency?
Identifying Local Support Systems in your proposal • Housing facilities • Teaching facilities • Guest speakers • Cultural activities • Local transportation • Medical facilities
Identifying Cultural Activities in your Proposal • Identify day and overnight excursions • Housing needed • Local tour guides? • Who can assist? • Check local calendar for on-site events during program
Submit Proposal • Submit proposal to Department, College and UFIC for final approval • Be prepared to answer questions or re-submit certain items that are not clear • International committees in most colleges • Study Abroad Advisory Council • Submit Program Approval to UFIC
Developing a Budget • Provide UFIC with the following information: • local tuition * • classroom rental • guest lecturers * • student housing • faculty housing • local transportation • cultural activities * if applicable

Establish a program fee • Meet with UFIC staff • Discuss salary and per diem policies • Decide on break-even • Learn about teaching contract and faculty responsibilities
Recruiting Students • Reserve a table at the study abroad fair • Provide information for program flyer • Facilitate classroom presentations • Organize program orientations • Become a reviewer to check on your applications
Pre-Departure Orientation • Course content • Textbooks • Country information • Health and Safety • Expectations (!) • Visa and passport • Emergency contact • UFIC advisor will assist
Necessary Paperwork • Proposal • Department and college approval • Budget information • On-site emergency contact information • Program evaluations • Program report
While You Are Abroad • Teach your course • Engage in all cultural activities • Oversee safety, health, disciplinary and academic issues • Stay in touch with UFIC if nescessary • Manage program account and working funds
Coming Back to UF • Submit grades in Grade-A-Gator • Submit program report • Reconcile working funds and account
