Dismissal – If you have a younger sibling • who is in PreK, K or 1st grade,you go to their waiting area for car-rider • who is in 2nd, 3rd or 4thgrade, they will wait with their class by the multi-colored poles just like 5th gr. The teachers will show you where to sit to wait • who walks home with you, meet them • in front of Central’s Library. Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Vosberg or Mrs. Huntsman will • walk you to your crossing guard.Keep your head UP & WATCH as you walk!

  11. Things to REMEMBER • If you are not in your assigned place by 7:50, you are TARDY (late). The side doors lock at 7:45. Go to the Main office and get a TARDY sticker to turn in to your 1st period teacher. • More than 3 Tardies, you’ll receive After School Detention with Mrs. Salas. • If you are Absent, you must have a NOTE when you come back. You are allowed THREE • Parent Notes each Semester (Semesters are Aug-Dec and Jan-May) After that, Notes must be from a Doctor. • Too many absences could require your • parent attend the Truancy Diversion Program and/or could hold you back in the 5th grade. Attendance is • a LAW!

Late Bus Riders • Late Bus Riders will wait in my room until about 3:30, then we’ll walk down together. • If you have a younger sibling who rides the bus, too, you’ll see them in the bus line. • Tell an adult BEFORE you get on the bus if you do not see your sibling who is supposed to ride the bus with you. • If your sibling is little (PK-1st), ask the bus driver, politely, if you can sit with them. This should not be a problem

  13. Car-Riders • Remember every car / person that picks you up MUST have a Central Car-TAG visible in the Windshield • If not, the adult has to park, • get out of the car, and check • you out in the office. • 3:30 and after – everyone • gets picked up from the front

Things to REMEMBER • Playground/Recess Rules: • No Games that involve CHASING allowed! • Keep your hands/feet to yourself at ALL times, even on the swings and other equipment • No food or drink on playground(teacher/staff only) • No parents on playground—staff only • Play fairly & respectfully • Slide on bottom, feet first only • NO WALKING UP the slide • NO JUMPING from swings • Stay out of baby swings! • Do not ask for a drink or bathroom!

  15. Why do we need Rules & Procedures at school? • Everyone has the right to a Safe and Orderly Learning Environment • I have the right to TEACH in a safe and orderly environment. • If either of these two things are interrupted, problems occur and consequences will follow

Rules/Procedures Cafeteria and Gym Before/After School • Breakfast @ 7:15 in ONE area • Sit at Tables to wait for Gym to Open • In GYM – Read or do HW • Mrs. G, Coach Terri, Teachers WILL give marks for misbehavior • Leave Gym quietly, stay IN LINE. Hallways are quiet • with hands and items to yourself - • DO NOT Touch Displays on Walls!! • Lunch D-Hall with Mrs. Salas • Small Room by Brawner’s class • Late Bus waits until 3:35 ea. day • Sit in Mrs. Buck’s room • Complete Homework or Read • Help Mrs. Huntsman? Help Mrs. Buck & Mrs. Brawner?

Restroom/Water • Plenty of Visits during the day: • Before 1st period • Before/after PE • After Lunch Recess (whole group) • Before dismissal • (No visits during Recess or during class time unless you have a Doctor’s Note) • Do NOT waste time! The Restroom area is NOT the place to socialize or play around • Keep the area clean! • Respect School Propertyand use it • as it is intended! • Restrooms will be closed down if problems occur. • This is YOUR SCHOOL. BE PROUD of it & Keep it clean!!

I will respect others by keeping my hands, feet, and objects to myself. • With this rule please remember: • Do not touch or take what is not yours without permission….that includes items that I’ve taken away from YOU. • When you use something return it the way you found it • Choose your words carefully • Choose your actions carefully. The WAY you say it could get you in trouble. • Tone of voice and joking around CAN • get you in trouble. • Bad language will NOT be tolerated! • Mrs. Buck’s No-No’s

  19. Rules/Procedures 2. I will work quietly & independently. I will get out of my seat or talk with permission only. • With thisrule, you are showing respect for others who are working and that you are mature enough to do work independently. (no wandering eyes---Cheater Beaters) • There are MANY desks & not much room! • Keep the aisles clear! • All items (including legs and feet) are to • stay OUT of the aisle! • Get back to your seat quickly & quietly. • Sharpeners are to be used BEFORE class ONLY; otherwise, use your hand-held sharpener & keep shavings OFF the floor!

I will be prepared for class & leave promptly when dismissed. • Being Prepared means you have everything you need for class everyday. • PAW Folder – signed every Monday • Planner– filled out each week • Homework COMPLETE & ready to hand in • Required books (including Library Books) • Tools (pencils, pens, highlighters, sharpener, • map colors, crayons, scissors, glue…) • Leaving Class when dismissed-Packing • up too slowly could make you late for your next class! Keep up with your things and stay organized!

  21. Rules/Procedures 4. I will Listen and follow directions. You will not be successful in 5th grade if you are not listening and following directions. Daydreaming, playing with other items or working on other assignments willget you into trouble!

Items not allowed at school.. • Expensive Jewelry • Large sums of money • Cameras, radios, music players (iPods, mp3 players, etc) • Electronic Toys/Games (allowed only on Electronics Days as Reward) • Trading Cards of any type • Toys or Toys attached to Pencils/Erasers • Silly Bands and/or other disruptive • bracelets will not be allowed • Magazines or Comic Books

  23. Medicine at school.. • All Medications (including non-prescription medicine) must be taken directly to the Nurse’s Office, and a parent’s request form filled out. • The medicine must be in its original container, must have a parent’s note including the student’s name, name of medication, dosage and why medication is given and name of student either written or taped to the original container. • AISD Schools do not provide cough medications, cough-drops, antibiotic ointments or pain medication • (including Tylenol, Advil or others).

  24. CELL Phones You MAY bring a cell phone, but it must remain OFF & stays in your Backpack! If it is seen and/or heard, it will be taken up and turned into the office. Cell phones taken up will be returned to the parent only. This is AISD Policy.

  25. PAW Folder • The PAW Folder stays with you at school for each class and is to go home each day. • Signatures checked on Mondays! • Codes/Cat Tracks are given for infractions or misbehavior • Keep Code-Sheet IN BRADS with PAW SHEET

PAWS Folder • “Warning” (YOUR opportunity to correct behavior) • 2nd time: Mark in Folder • 3rd time: Mark in Folder; no recess • 4th time: Mark in Folder; call parent • 5th time: Mark in Folder; Lunch Dhall • More than 5 Marks in one day earns a Discipline Referral to Mrs. Jones. • Mrs. Salas is the D-Hall Teacher

  27. Dress Code • From AISD Handbook • AISD prohibits any picture or writing on clothing that: • Is lewd, offensive, vulgar or obscene or • Advertises or depicts tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, violence, weapons, drugs, satanic/cult or gang activities or any other substance prohibited under Policy FNCF (local) • Shoes • Elementary students need to wear tennis, athletic shoes • or closed-toe shoes with a non-slip and non-marking sole • No Flip Flops, Wheeled Shoes or Crocs • No High-Heels • On warm days, sandals with straps may be worn. • If sandals are worn, please bring your sneakers to • change into before PE class and/or recess.

  28. Dress Code • No Spaghetti-Straps or other tops that do not cover the shoulders. • No inappropriate-length shorts. Must be no shorter than a dollar-bill’s width from the knee. • Pants must be worn at the waist.No baggie/saggy pants allowed. • No long shirts that fall below the fingertips when not tucked in. • No see-through or mesh tops • No hats, sunglasses, visors, bandannas, combs, curlers or scarves. • No nose studs, nose-rings or eye-brow rings. • Student not adhering to the Dress Code with be sent • to the nurse for a change of clothes or will call a parent to arrange for appropriate clothing.

  29. Character Counts • Each month we will study a different character trait. The front cover of your Planner lists the traits for each month. • Take the time to look at what you want in life and who you want to become, then set goals for yourself. • Be a Member of the BEE Club!

  30. Bee Club- Best Effort Everyday • Each month, teachers choose one boy and one girl from their class • Chosen for Excellence or Improvement in any area • Each Month, Bee Club Winners Names will be posted on Large Board outside library • Bee Club Luncheon at end of each Semester (Dec & May) Parents are Invited to the Luncheon at your regular lunch time. • Bee Club Field Trips!
