  2. An event can be a significant part of a charity or a non-profit organization’s fundraiser program. Small scale events have been used for fundraising activities for years. Although, setting up and getting one of these events going can be a very time consuming and even a risky process. Successful fundraiser events depend on having the right skills and know how about what works, having the required resources, and marketing the event to the target audience as effectively as possible.

  3. Why do you want to run a Running for Charity Fundraiser event? Whether the event is large or small, the main objective in a fundraising event is to generate income and raise awareness about a particular charity, area of work, or disease. In order for the event to be successful, a strategy and clear objectives must be laid down. It is important to be absolutely clear about the purpose of the event and who is it for. In the most ideal case, there should be once clear objective that will help inform decisions about the venue of the Running for Charity event, invitation lists, ticket price, media involvement and promotion as well as the other resources needed to organize and carry out the event.

  4. What type of event? There are plenty of useful resources that can give you more ideas about the event. Looking around to learn more about the similar events in your local community that have been successful can help you get started. The event has to be marketable, saleable, and profitable whether the generated income is directly through the event or through future support.

  5. What resources will you need? • The existing resources you have in terms of staff and volunteers. • The other staff or resources you need. • Resources for clearing up of all the mess after the event. • The promotional materials you require. • Ability to utilize what you already have. • Deciding an advertising budget.

  6. Sponsors A successful event has to have sponsors to be profitable. A running for charity event can attract sponsorship reducing your risks and costs. The best case scenario is that your event gets fully sponsored so that you have no costs and can raise the maximum amount of money for the charity you are working with. When approaching potential sponsors give them a clear idea about how much money you are expecting from them and what you are offering in return.

  7. Promotion Your promotional activities should start with an understanding of the segment of people who you want to attract and the number of people you are expecting to be interested, which is basically your target market. In the case of a charity run, the event may be of general interest so you should start by promoting it to people who you already know and might be interested. You should use social media to spread awareness about your event. I hope this presentation will help you to organize your own running charity. This presentation is made by Fun Glow 5k.
