  1. Integrated Large Infrastructures for Astroparticle Science N4 - Double beta Network Dominique Lalanne, Blaubeuren, July 3rd 2007

  2. N4 – Deliverables at the end of 3rd year 1 Deliverable“Final report on background issues” CNRS (CENBG, IReS, LAL, LPC), INFN (Milano), MPI(Heidelberg), Leiden, UCL comments: levels of background due to remaining radioactivity low enough to reach the expected sensitivity of the future experiments SuperNEMO, GERDA, CUORE 2 Deliverable “Recommendations on the most appropriate techniques” CNRS (CENBG, LAL), INFN (Milano), MPI(Heidelberg) comments: recommendation to make the three types of experiments on double beta, germanium, bolometer, tracko-calo 3 Deliverable “updating of isotope databate” CNRS (CENBG, LAL), INFN (Milano) comments: no new input in third year (37.5 kg of germanium included last year, 1.5 kg of selenium for year 4)

  3. 4 Deliverable “First report on Laser isotope separation” Possible production of enriched Nd150 CNRS (LAL) comments: real opportunity at MENPHIS, France for Nd150. Discussion in progress at Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA) 5 Deliverable “Report on conclusions on matrix element computation and selected isotopes” Jyväskylä Univ., Tübingen Univ., Bratislava Univ. comments: list of recent progress and new inputs to be taken into account in future calculations

  4. Month number 36 corresponds to April 2007

  5. Integrated Large Infrastructures for Astroparticle Science ILIAS-JRA2 • Production of enriched Selenium • 2 kilos « ITEP-Kurchatov » • recent delivery : 1.5 kilos from Tomsk

  6. 1.5 kg from Tomsk

  7. May 11th, 2007 arrival of 1.5 kg of enriched Selenium 82 from Tomsk via Chemgas Serge Jullian, Xavier Sarazin, Dominique Lalanne, Pierre-Alexandre The enriched selenium is powder in four plastic boxes inside the four wood boxes

  8. Deliverable : purified Selenium by chemistry INL (Idaho) 1 kg of Se82 done by distillation Kurchatov 1 kg of Se (nat.) done IChHPS (Russia) 1.250 kg of Se (nat.) done Conclusion : a lot of measurements to be done on Germanium detectors in LSM

  9. Natural Selenium from Nijni Novgorod, Russia. May 24, 2007 Left, before purification, right after 4-times vacuum distillation

  10. Purified seleniumin its bottle of quartz

  11. Remaining work to be done: • Measurements of all the samples • conclusions to be drawn on : • the choice of the place for enrichment of Se • The method of purification to reach the mBq/kg

  12. New chair persons for ILIAS N4 : chair Christine Marquet deputy Xavier Sarazin JRA2, enrichment and purification : chair Corinne Augier
