Seminoles

Discover the rich history of the Seminole people, known for their resilience and independence. This overview explores their lifestyle, which included gathering native fruits, fishing, and hunting, while largely avoiding farming. Uniquely, they provided refuge to runaway slaves, forming alliances through intermarriage. The narrative also covers the conflicts with settlers and military leaders like General Gaines and Andrew Jackson, leading to significant events such as the First Seminole War. Today, about 500 Seminoles still live in Florida, preserving their rich cultural heritage.
