  1. Restoring the iDentity A Future Trends Project by Group 11-25 Ryan Yeo 2i127 (L) Lee Cheok Feng 2i112 (M) Marcus Lim 2i115 (M) Web Report URL: http://restoringtheidentity.wikispaces.com/

  2. Fundamental Problem • Given that the scenario states that relationships in the year 2047 are poor, leading to selfishness as well as a cold society, it could be a problem for the people in 2047 as society will become a place where hardly anybody cares for one another or is able to communicate with each other properly on a face-to-face basis. How might we improve relationships between friends, families and colleagues such that society becomes a much friendlier place in the year 2047?

  3. Our Best Solution • The Members of Parliament in the different constituencies will organize goal setting events for the community. These events will occur all around the world by the year 2015. This will be done through goal setting events that encourage people to share their goals for the community. People will then realise that their community members have much in common and new friends can be made. This will allow the community to get together and aim to achieve set targets as a whole. People can bond with each other and relationships are improved.

  6. Our Action Plan • Revolves around uniting members of the public through goal setting • Setting figures of inspiration within the community through the Good Goal Awards • Turns the community into a friendly, motivated and inspired one

  7. Our Action Plan • Bring members of the community together during the event • Members of the community interact • Partners build friendship through encouragement and friendly competitions • MPs are facilitators and guides • Sense of belonging to community

  8. Our Action Plan • The Good Goal Award: • Encourages people to attend the AGEs • Provides publicity for the AGEs • Inspiring figure to the community

  9. Our Action Plan • Professors Paula Barrett and Jacqueline Bermingham: "role models have the ability to motivate and inspire others." • Quote by Anonymous: “Role models inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more." • Turn members of the community into role models

  10. Our Action Plan • Goal Tracker App: • Tracks progress on goals • Saves contact on partners and allows exchange of information • Sets reminders to achieve goals

  11. Our Action Plan • How do we get people to attend? • Publicized through advertisements in the newspapers, televisions, eNoticeboards • Free transport and refreshments • Partners will motivate people to attend the AGEs • Inspirational stories in newspapers to attract the general public

  12. Our Action Plan • How do you know people will work towards their goals? • According to the lifestyle website Livestrong.com, in a team or group environment, challenging goal setting can encourage a team spirit and get all team members united and focused on achieving a common aim.

  13. Our Action Plan • Study by Michigan State University • People were divided into groups and told to exercise. • One group exercised alone, while the other group was told that someone else would exercise with them elsewhere. • The group which believed they exercised with someone exercised more than the group that exercised alone.

  14. Our Action Plan • Do these events really help to get people together? • Dr Andrew Larkin: "social engagement… can create awareness of difference and break down barriers for individuals and communities” • Amazing Goals Event can get communities involved and build closer bonds.
