  1. Constant acceleration motion medley mini lab GRAB A MINI-LAB WS from the front Reminder: Turn in your Frictionless Car Lab report if you haven’t already.

  2. ANNOUNCEMENTS QUIZ TOMORROW Drawing X vs. T, V vs. T, A vs. T, and Motion Maps for Constant Acceleration Motion

  3. There are 4 different activities to do: • Free-fall: Picket Fence (Lab stations 4, 5) • Free-fall: Basketball (Lab Stations 1,3) • Fan Cart: Blue Fans (Lab Stations 8,9) • Fan Cart: Red Fans (Lab Stations 6,7) • YOU WILL HAVE 15 MINUTES TO DO EACH STATION Mini-Lab Medley

  4. Description: You will be dropping a “Picket Fence” through a Photo Gate Free-Fall: Picket fence

  5. Hit “Collect” • Drop the Picket Fence through the PhotoGate • Record the positions and associated times (i.e. the time at that particular position) • Calculate the ∆t and ∆x for each interval and then velocity • Note: This will probably be different than what the computer will say. Free-Fall: Picket fence

  6. Use our LoggerPro tricks to find the slope of the V vs. T graph and acceleration • Note: You might need to average the accelerations to find a good value • Select data and clicking “Stats”. Look for the mean. Free-Fall: Picket fence

  7. Description: You will be tossing a basketball up above a motion detector Free-Fall: Basketball

  8. DO NOW: Make your predictions as to what the X vs. T, V vs. T, and A vs. T graph will look like. • Hit “Collect” • Toss the basketball into the air above the sensor. • It doesn’t have to be too high, as long as your graph seems smooth and consistent Free-Fall: Basketball

  9. Record the graph of X vs. T, V vs. T, and A vs. T • Record the value of acceleration • Note: Might have to find the mean • Fill in the table Free-Fall: Basketball

  10. Description: You will be measuring the motion of the cart as it moves away, then comes back to the sensor Fan Cart: Blue Fans

  11. DO NOW: Make your predictions. Do part e • Hit “Collect” • Give the cart a gentle push away from the motion detector. • It doesn’t have to be too hard. • Let the cart go away and come back towards the motion detector. • Stop it before it hits the motion detector Fan Cart: Blue Fans

  12. Answer parts a-d, and f-j Fan Cart: Blue Fans

  13. Description: You will be measuring the motion of the cart as it goes towards, then away from the sensor Fan Cart: RED Fans

  14. DO NOW: Make your predictions. Do parts e • Hit “Collect” • Give the cart a gentle push towards the motion detector. • It doesn’t have to be too hard. • Let the cart go towards the motion detector then away. • Don’t let it hit the motion detector Fan Cart: redFans
