  3. Goals and Objectives Develop Laboratory activities that address: • Data acquisition and manipulation. • Facility with required software. • Basic mathematical and statistical concepts. • Graphical presentation.

  4. Motivation • Increase the level of mathematics that students in introductory biology encounter. • Do so in a graduated way. • Increase awareness of importance of mathematics in biology. • Increase students’ confidence in using mathematics in biology.

  7. Interdisciplinary Investigation • We needed data! We used data acquisition hardware (Vernier’s LoggerPro) collected data . • The “Ice Lab” delivers allometric data. • We can bring in calculus and statistics to analyze.
