  3. Brief History • 1895 – opening of Hartwood hospital • 1950’s 2500 beds • 1970’s – 90’s reduction and early community services • 2000 – Mental Health Strategy introduces Resource Networks • 2000 -2011 – community investments • 2011 – closure of Hartwoodhill

  5. Where are we now? • Complex range of specialist services • Networks involve different agencies delivering care in localities • Less use of inpatient units (80% occupancy)
