Creates Uneven Playing Field • Student athletes would choose school that offer more money • Competition between schools would go down • Fans and schools become unhappy • Most schools are non-profiting • Only basketball and football make a profit • Other sports are loss money • Only 14 schools made a profit • Players get paid by receiving free travel • Schools spend about $42.6 million on team travels

Need Money to Live College Life • Athletes come from poor backgrounds • Family have no money to give • Players have no way to earn money • NCAA prohibits players from holding a job • Cannot work during the season • Certain restriction during the off season • Players take money illegally • 31% of athletes receive illegal payment • 48% of athletes know of someone who has taken illegal payment • 5% of athletes have had inside information on shaving points or gambling • Colleges don’t pay for tutors • Athletes fall behind in studies • No educational benefit • Want to play professional early

Improve School Reputation • Colleges bring in $30-$40 million dollars each year • Louisville generates $16.6 million in college basketball • Better and smarter athletes come to your school • Graduation rates would increase • 10 of top 25 school in college basketball have a graduation rate lower than 60% • 4 of schools were under 40% • Would make schools look better

Ruins Youth Competition • Athletes are 18-23 years old • Athletes will stop working as hard • These are not professional leagues • Players are trying to go pro • Allows players to mature on and off the field • Get out of high school competition • Work your way up to the pros • Help athlete make better decisions
