  2. Welcome We have 3 main areas to cover today: • General • Staff Computers • Public Computers Plus, we'll leave lots of time at the end for questions.

  3. General Simple to save you time and frustration

  4. General • Basic Troubleshooting for minor issues – Even before you submit a Helpdesk Ticket • Restart • Make sure the computer is on • Cords/cables plugged in tight • Check for and remove any thumb drives • Check for and remove any CDs/DVDs in the drive • If none of those things work, submit a Helpdesk Ticket

  5. General • What to do when something happens – Virus/BSOD • Do not unplug the computer • Stop what you’re doing and submit a helpdesk ticket. Don’t close any windows or click on anything. • Only call if it’s an emergency

  6. General • Help Desk Tickets • http://helpdesk.iflsweb.org • Include as many details as possible • Double check your e-mail address • Include your phone number • Keep an eye out for responses. If you submit a ticket during the day, check your e-mail for a response. • If we helped you with your problem, please mark the ticket as resolved. • Always try to let us know whether our help was successful.

Public Computers • Updates • If you have Deep Freeze • Leave computers on Wednesday Night • Run Ninite as needed for Reader, Java, Firefox • Update Flash manually • If you still have Smart Shield • Run Windows Updates and Symantec Antivirus updates on the second Wednesday of the month • We are in the process of replacing Smart Shield
